Genesys Wealth Advisers has raised over $1 million for children’s charity Children First Foundation, with a recent surge in fundraising of $51,000 tipping the total raised by Genesys into seven figures since the first donation in 1999.

Children First Foundation aids children from developing and war torn countries to have life changing surgery in Australia and provides funding support for Australian families with disabled or chronically ill children.

Genesys Managing Director Tim Steele said Genesys advisers have been dedicated supporters of Children First since the charity first began and the sponsorship is in the fabric of the Genesys business.

“I know from first-hand experience that Children First is a charity that is very close to the hearts of Genesys advisers. To reach $1 million in donations is a fantastic achievement and is a reflection of the importance of community for these advisers, with many participating in various ways to assist the foundation,” Mr Steele said.

The $1 million milestone was reached at the recent Genesys adviser conference, where the recipients of its annual adviser recognition awards were also presented.

Peter Audet from Brisbane-based member firm Varria was presented with the Ballesty Sikkema award, which honours an adviser who is a strong role model and mentor to their peers, their contribution to the profession and strong community links.

“Peter is a strong role model and is clearly passionate about educating young advisers to not only achieve their business goals but to better understand and empathise with a client’s individual circumstances. This extends to his local community where he generously offers his time to help others”, Mr Steele said.

The Genesys adviser recognition awards are presented annually and recognise advisers who demonstrate professionalism, the delivery of quality advice and commitment to community.

Varria has been a big supporter of the Children First Foundation for many years and have seen so many of the children they have helped experience a richer and fuller life as a result of the charity’s work.
